Have you considered putting yourself out there for some contracting work for indie games developers? For example, take a look at Rebuild 2 (http://www.rebuildgame.com). She used an artist to provide some specific art for her game, and it worked well. the artist's name is EvilKris (http://ydjapan.blogspot.com/). These websites are decent places to tour for small developers looking for artists: Newgrounds, DeviantArt, TIGSource and FlashGameLicense.
It might be a good idea to work on such things in order to get my name out. I will definitely look into all of those sites (already looked at the Rebuild 2) soon. Based on EvilKris's work it appears he has access to Z-Brush which I currently do not possess. Plenty of things to look into. Appreciate the feedback.
